How to Make Wedding Bouquets

Wedding Bouquet Introduction and Instructions

There are several different types wedding bouquets. Probably the most famous of all wedding bouquets is the one tossed to all of the hopeful unmarried ladies, which is usually different from the bridal bouquet held by the bride during the ceremony. All of the bridesmaids traditionally also carry bouquets as they are a great way to accent their attire. The following steps outline how to make a wedding bouquet.

Step One
Build a picture of what kind of bouquet you would like. Search both online and through the many Bridal Magazines out there. Both are an excellent way to get an idea of what can be done and can provide the inspiration to make yours truly unique and special.
Step Two
Think about your weddings colors when choosing the flowers for your wedding bouquet. Whether you are going to have a white bouquet with colors accents or a colored bouquet, it is important to order both the primary and filler flowers as well as the greenery well in advance. Keep in mind the seasonality of your desired flowers. It should be possible to get flowers out of season, but it may require more effort to find them, so be sure to consult a florist.
Step Three
By placing the wedding bouquet holder upside down in a bowl of water you will allow the foam to soak up the water. Dry the exterior after you remove the bouquet holder from the water.
Step Four
Starting from the bottom of the bouquet holder and working your way to the top, place your greenery, filler material, and flowers remembering to size up the steps to the bouquet before cutting them. Consider how much step you want to have visible and allow up 2 extra inches of step to remain on the safe side.
Step Five
When cutting the stems give them a nice sharp point so that they will easily push into the foam. Remember that in order to make the flowers last longer, cut a small amount off the stem if you have to take it out of the foam. This prevents an air gap which will prevent the flower from absorbing water to stay fresh
Step Six
When all of the flowers have been arranged in your wedding bouquet, tie a bow with 2 inch wide satin or silk ribbon where the handle of the wedding bouquet holder and the cone join.
Step Seven - some final advice
Make the wedding bouquets as close to the big day as possible and keep the bouquet as well as any corsages in a cool moist location until they will be used. When ordering flowers be sure to order extra as they can replace flowers damaged in the process or be used for corsages.

The wedding bouquet holders can be found at your local craftstore or can be ordered online. Be sure to not let them dry out before you add the flowers or your flowers won't last as long.

If you need help or seek advise consult a local florist for their ideas. They should be thrilled to help you prepare for your wedding.
